Hello and welcome to our latest newsletter. Well we have been having some mixed weather with some very hot sun and some very cold wind and rain. Just more typical British weather I guess. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to our Craft and Laugh Group on Wednesday when we were setting up our “Show Garden” . Okay, as Dee has already said it is not on the official list of gardens – an error I’m sure – but we hope it will make our own villagers, as well as our visitors, smile. Every single item on display has been made especially for the display – except for our sunbathing Teddy!
The Historical Walking Tour of Coventry on Sunday June 23rd is now fully booked but there is always the possibility that somebody will have to cancel. If you are prepared to go on a waiting list in case this happens then please let Dee know.
We are in the process of organising a theatre trip to Warwick in October to hear Aled Jones and Russell Watson. Other trips we are hoping to organise are – a visit to Webbs Garden Centre and Retail Stores in Droitwich, Alrescote Wenslydale Farm, Forge Mill Needle Museum and Bordsley Abbey, and finally a visit to Gloucester Quays Victorian Christmas Market. Some years ago we made a visit to Gloucester Quays, although not at Christmas, and it was very enjoyable.
Many of us have our WI T shirts which we wear with pride on certain occasions. If anybody would like to purchase a T shirt then please contact Dee so that she can give you details re: cost etc and she will then place the order.
Our speaker on Wednesday June 5th is Lady Kira Dalton and she will be talking about the African Oyster Trust. The competition will be to make something using recycled items. There is also our usual Flower of the Month competition.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday evening at 7.30 pm.
