Hello and welcome to our abbreviated newsletter this month.
Even though the calendar says it is still Autumn my body is reacting to the temperature and telling me it’s Winter! We even had some snow a few days ago, albeit for a very short time, but far too early for me. Thank goodness for wood burners.
I know it has already been said but it does bear repeating; we are so grateful for everybody who helped with the poppy display whether it was poppy making, decorating the church, making cakes, serving teas. It was a very moving and emotional display and was viewed favourably by so many people.
Don’t forget that we are holding our Christmas Party on Wednesday December 5th starting at 7.30 pm. If you attended last years’ event you will know that there is something special awaiting you so don’t forget to remind your fellow WI friends; we don’t want them to miss out on the fun! Please dress in your Christmas sweaters, Christmas hats or other festive wear. Secret Santa will be paying an early visit so if you want to take part please bring a gift, value £5. Remember, if you don’t contribute a gift then you won’t receive one. Simple!
We will be having a buffet supper so please bring a plate of savoury food to share on the night – no cakes or desserts this time please.
On Tuesday December 11th Jacqui will be holding our annual wreath making workshop at 7.30 pm in the Reading Rooms. Please note the venue! Cost is £18 to members and £20 to non members. Let Dee know if you want to attend and bring your fee to the meeting/party on Wednesday if you have not already paid by then.
We are also holding a fund raising event on Saturday January 26th 2019. This will take the form of a Burns Night Celebration, 7pm for 7.30 start. Tickets are £15 per person and are limited so don’t miss out! Contact Alison Cross for tickets. Check out the fabulous posters for full information.
Our first meeting in 2019 will take place on Wednesday January 9th to ensure we will all have recovered from the excesses of New Year! Your programme will also be available then.
Well that is all for this month. Meanwhile keep warm and we look forward to seeing you all at the party!
Reminder: No competition or Flower of the Month in December
