Last night was our Resolution meeting and the resolution we were debating was “Mental Health Matters”.
Since we have some new members a short introduction was given so that they could understand what this meeting was about and we were given some information on previous resolutions going back over many years, some of which surprised many of us. A presentation was given and a short question and answer session. What followed was one of the best resolution discussions I have been involved with since joining Tysoe WI. It was a very lively and enlightening discussion in which many members became involved and telling us of their experiences either from a personal viewpoint or family viewpoint. The resolution was passed unanimously and we are all waiting with interest to find out what happens when it is brought to the Annual Meeting in Cardiff.
Thank you to everyone who attended and made this such a worthwhile meeting.
Following a buffet supper one of our number was then given a huge surprise when we opened the stage curtains to reveal what was going to be a hen party to celebrate Alison’s wedding later this month. She had been kept totally in the dark. Two poems were recited by members; Edward Lear’s “The Owl And The Pussy Cat” and “Yes I’ll Marry You” by Pam Ayres. Once again most members became involved in providing a wedding gown for the bride – mostly from toilet tissue! – and also a dress for the bridesmaid. Bouquets and floral head dresses were also fashioned from an abundance of materials provided mostly by the committee. Of course the festivities were enhanced by the Prosecco kindly provided by the future bridegroom.
The following slide show provides an insight into the fun we had and to let those who were unable to attend experience some of the fun second hand.
Unfortunately I cannot promise all future resolution meetings will end in such a fun way. I think last night will take some beating – but I’m sure we’ll try.
